Keiichiro Yaskawa(Keiichiro Yaskawa (May 9, 1849-November 30, 1934) is a Japanese samurai (Fukuoka clan), prewar businessman, politician and founder of the local conglomerate Yaskawa conglomerate. Soichiro Asano (April 13, 1848-November 9, 1930), which I introduced earlier, is also a contemporary businessman who created the Asano conglomerate.
The companies and schools established by Keiichiro Yaskawa
・ Yaskawa Electric(robot & motor)
・ Kyushu Steel (Merged with Yahata Steel Works. Current Nippon Steel)
・ Kyushu Railway (Currently Japan Railway Kyushu after working in the Kyushu Railway Division)
・Meiji Vocational School (Currently Kyushu Institute of Technology)
The above is a brief history of Keiichiro Yaskawa. The joint management of Keiichiro and his second son is reminiscent of the relationship between Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa. Keiichiro Yaskawa can be said to be the businessman who contributed most to the development of Kyushu. As of September 2020, Yaskawa Electric is one of the constituent brands of the Nikkei 225, which is active as one of the world’s four major industrial robot manufacturers. FANUC in Japan, ABB in Switzerland, and kuka in Germany are the four largest robot manufacturers in the world.
For example, Luxembourg is a small European country, but it has the world’s largest steel maker, ArcelorMittal. By specializing in the steel industry even in such a small country, we can become a rich country with the world’s top level of GDP per capita. The Switzerland also has a population of about 8 million, which is a little larger than Saitama Prefecture, but its GDP per capita is also one of the highest in the world. The fact that the influence of one aristocrat or chaebol continues in both Japan and Europe is very interesting. ArcelorMittal is building a factory in india in collaboration with Nippon Steel. Thank you for reading to the end.
